Fr. Mayernick St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Chapel

Meet Our Parish Priest

Very Rev. Father Frank Paul Mayernick:

 

Father Mayernick is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and received a direct commission from civilian life and entered the United States Air Force Chaplaincy in 1981.  Prior to entering active duty, he served four years as Parish Priest of the Holy Dormition Orthodox Church in St. Clair, PA from 1977-1980.  Father Mayernick is married to the former Joan Elaine Selai of Miami Florida. They have four children, Laura, Frank, Nicholas, Elizabeth and three grandchildren.

Rev. Frank P. Mayernick retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-three of service. Father Frank retired as the Orthodox senior chaplain for the 16th Special Operation Wing, Hurlburt Field, Florida. Colonel Mayernick also served as the Deputy Command Chaplain at Headquarters, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), Hurlburt Field, Florida.  In this capacity he served as the chaplain to America's "Air Commandos,” HQ AFSOC, a major air command that operates and deploys America's specialized airpower worldwide as the air component of the United States Special Operations Command.  Father Mayernick was the lead person in creating a suicide prevention program for all branches of the military.

                                        Hurlburt Field, Florida
